New DSWD Satellite Office to Enhance Social Services in Surigao del Sur

Tandag City:Surigao del Sur Residents of Surigao del Sur will soon have improved access to government assistance as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - Caraga Region begins the construction of a new satellite office. This initiative aims to consolidate major social protection programs in a single location.

According to Philippines News Agency, the groundbreaking ceremony for the multipurpose building took place on Tuesday in Barangay Rosario, Tandag City. The DSWD-Caraga is collaborating with the province's two congressional district offices and the provincial government on this project.

The new facility will be built on a 2,000-square-meter lot and will accommodate offices for several DSWD programs, including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations, and the Sustainable Livelihood Program. The satellite office is expected to make these programs and services more accessible to individuals and families in Surigao del Sur, reducing the need for beneficiaries to travel to other locations.

The development is part of an area where offices of various national government agencies are located, supporting efforts to establish a centralized government service hub in the province. DSWD-Caraga Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, along with Surigao del Sur 1st District Rep. Romeo Momo Sr., 2nd District Rep. Alexander Pimentel, and other provincial and local government officials, attended the groundbreaking ceremony. The project aims to contribute to a one-stop government service center, facilitating easier access to social protection interventions and other government services for Surigaonons.
