New Health Facilities Enhance Services in Eight BARMM Towns

Bangsamoro: The Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) has inaugurated new rural health units (RHUs) and barangay health stations (BHS) in eight towns to improve healthcare services in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the facilities are part of the Special Geographic Area (SGA) comprising 63 villages in six North Cotabato municipalities. These initiatives aim to address decades of inadequate health services caused by ongoing armed conflict in the region.

MOH Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding emphasized in a statement that the modern health facilities will serve residents, including those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA). He further noted that qualified health workers will manage the facilities to ensure efficient service delivery.

The eight new SGA towns-Old Kaabakan, Pahamuddin, Kadayangan, Kapalawan, Malidegao, Nabalawag, Tugunan, and Ligawasan-now have functioning BHS and RHUs. In the past 10 months, 44 RHUs and BHS have been strategically built across the area to enhance healthcare access.
