Dumaguete: Metro Dumaguete Water is making strides in sustainable water management by implementing projects to enhance both the supply and quality of water in the city. A significant development includes the inauguration of a new pumping station capable of delivering an additional 3 million liters of water daily.

According to Philippines News Agency, MDW information officer Katrin Arcala announced that the company inaugurated its 22nd pumping station this year in Barangay Talay. This new infrastructure is set to benefit approximately 3,000 households by boosting the overall water supply in the area.

Arcala emphasized that the new facility would augment the water supply by an additional 3 million liters per day, thereby increasing the company's average production. In addition to the new pumping station, the company has also upgraded six existing stations and constructed its first pipe bridge, aimed at safeguarding pipeline integrity during floods.

Further efforts include the installation of approximately 2,000 meters of transmission pipelines and a significant pipeline upgrade along Ihalason Road in Barangay Mangnao, which has resolved previous low-pressure issues for residents.

This year, MDW also launched round-the-clock customer service through multiple platforms and has plans underway to construct a 23rd pumping station by 2026, with physical developments anticipated by the second quarter.
