Manila: All the transmission grids around the country remain under normal operations as of Monday morning, according to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to Philippines News Agency, the NGCP announced in an advisory that it has activated its Overall Command Center during the day "to monitor power transmission operations and facilities during this year's State of the Nation Address (SONA)." This measure ensures that NGCP's contingency plans are effectively implemented to closely monitor the grid and swiftly address any power transmission disturbances. Critical units, particularly System Operations (SO) and Operations and Maintenance (O and M), are fully staffed and operational to maintain stability across the network.

The NGCP further stated that "line crews, engineers, pilots, maintenance and testing personnel, and other technical personnel remain strategically deployed across NGCP substations and key facilities to respond to any line trippings or operational concerns." These efforts are part of the proactive measures to maintain uninterrupted power supply during the significant national event.

The Overall Command Center is set to operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, with substation and transmission line status updates being released to the public every four hours. This initiative underscores the NGCP's commitment to transparency and real-time communication with the public regarding the status of the power grid.

Additionally, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is scheduled to deliver his 5th SONA on Monday afternoon, which is anticipated to last 1 hour and 20 minutes. The NGCP's meticulous preparation aims to ensure that the President's address, as well as the nation's power requirements, proceed without disruption.
