Manila: Teams from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) are now assessing two 69kV transmission lines servicing electric cooperatives in the provinces of Bataan and Cagayan de Oro (CDO) after these became unavailable before noon Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the power transmission operator, in its 1 p.m. advisory, reported that the Alasasin-Mariveles 69kV Line 3, which services the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) in Bataan, became unavailable at around 11:33 a.m. This incident has prompted an ongoing inspection by NGCP teams in the affected areas to determine the cause and extent of the disruption.
Meanwhile, the Opol-CDO 69kV Line 1, servicing customers of the Misamis Oriental-1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-1) and the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company, Inc. (CEPALCO), experienced a similar issue and went down at around 10:29 a.m. The inspection is also underway to address the situation in this region.
The advisory highlighted that the loss of power could result from issues in the transmission facilities of NGCP or the distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives. It was noted that the specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by the concerned Distribution Utilities, unless the outage impacts the entire franchise area.
