Nine Transmission Lines Restored as Typhoon Uwan Approaches West Philippine Sea


Manila: Nine more transmission lines servicing electric cooperatives have been restored as of 1 p.m. Monday as Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong) heads towards the West Philippine Sea. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) identified these lines as the Daraga-Sorsogon, Paranas-Quinapondan, Cabanatuan-Fatima, Botolan-Candelaria, Lumban-Caliraya, Cabanatuan-San Isidro, San Esteban-Candon, Bauang-Naguilian, and Bauang-San Fernando 69kV lines.



According to Philippines News Agency, NGCP reported that 28 other 69kV lines remain unavailable, along with several other higher-powered lines. The affected power lines in Luzon include the Gumaca-Lopez-Tagkawayan, Pitogo-Mulanay, Naga-Lagonoy, Naga-Libmanan, Naga-Tinambac, Naga-Iriga, Tiwi C-Pawa, Daraga-Ligao, Sorsogon-Bulan, Labo-Paracale, Labrador-San Carlos, Cabanatuan-San Luis, Cabanatuan-Bulualto, Santiago-Alicia, Labrador-Bolinao, Bayombong-Lagawe, Santiago-Aglipay, Nagsaag-Umingan, San Manuel-Calasiao, La Trinidad-Sagada, Bacnotan-Bulala, Bauang-San Fabian, Itogon-Ampucao, San Esteban-Bangued, Santiago-Cauayan, and Lal-lo-Santa Ana 69kV lines.



In the Visayas, the remaining unavailable 69kV line is the Palanas Cara-Catarman-Allen-Lao-ang, which caters to NORSAMELCO. Additionally, eight 230kV and two 115kV lines are also unavailable.



NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is conducting patrols. Simultaneous restoration activities are being conducted in areas already accessible.
