No Casualties Reported in 6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Off Davao Occidental

Manila: No casualty was reported after the magnitude 6.5 earthquake that struck off the coast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. 'As of reporting time, no untoward incidents were reported,' the NDRRMC stated on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NDRRMC had earlier issued an emergency alert over the risk of aftershocks and potential damage following the tremor, which also affected several areas in South Cotabato and Sarangani provinces. The tectonic earthquake occurred at 7:34 p.m., initially reported as magnitude 6.6, with a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 90 kilometers off Balut Island.
