Manila: There is no official communication yet confirming the reported arrest of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in the Netherlands, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Tuesday. "I would like to emphasize that no official communication confirming an arrest has been transmitted to us," DILG Secretary Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla stated.

According to Philippines News Agency, Remulla highlighted that while there is cause for authorities in the Netherlands to arrest Roque and turn him over to Philippine custody, this action would be based on the Red Notice issued by the government. The DILG assured that an appropriate announcement will be made once an official confirmation is received.

In response to the reports, Roque denied the claims of his arrest through a social media post. He supported his statement with a photo of his plane ticket from Amsterdam to Vienna, dated November 25. This social media post was subsequently forwarded by Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands J. Eduardo Malaya to the Philippines News Agency on Tuesday afternoon.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) had earlier revealed that the Philippine government requested the International Police (Interpol) to issue a Red Notice against Roque. He is currently facing charges of inciting to sedition and human trafficking, among other allegations.
