‘Not a Cabinet Revamp’: PBBM Eyes ‘Quarterly’ Gov’t Performance Review

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday outlined his plan to implement a 'quarterly' performance review across government departments as part of his strategy to recalibrate government operations. He emphasized that this initiative should not be seen as a Cabinet revamp, describing it as an ongoing process rather than a one-time overhaul.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos clarified that the review process aims to ensure continuous improvement in government performance. "It's not a Cabinet revamp. We are still in the process of examining, and now, we're already at the bottom. Essentially, everyone is on probation," he stated during an interview at Malaca±ang. The President assured that the periodic evaluations would place all government agencies and departments on alert to perform better, with reviews potentially occurring on a quarterly basis.

President Marcos noted that government undersecretaries are currently undergoing performance evaluations, which will be more stringent and comprehensive, extending beyond senior officials. He stressed the importance of meeting targets on a quarterly basis and indicated that performance assessments would be thorough at all levels of government.

The President hinted at potential changes in the future, suggesting that the government aims to adapt and improve continuously. Previously, on May 22, he instructed Cabinet secretaries and other high-ranking officials to resign following the 2025 midterm elections to realign the administration's priorities and enhance service delivery.
