NUNS Aims for Volleyball Supremacy in UAAP Finals

Quezon city: National University-Nazareth School seeks to dominate the UAAP Season 88 high school volleyball tournament as the best-of-three Finals series kicks off Thursday at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

According to Philippines News Agency, the top-seeded NUNS, eyeing consecutive crowns in the girls division, defeated University of Santo Tomas with scores of 33-31, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18 last Saturday. This victory set up a title match with third seed Far Eastern University-Diliman, scheduled for 4 p.m.

FEU-D has reached the Finals for the first time after sweeping second seed Adamson University in two matches. The match scores were 14-25, 22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-6, and 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-7.

Leading the Lady Bullpups are Asian Youth Games participants Diza Marie Berayo, Micaella Gould, Janine Bartolabac, Slash Obera, and Atasha Doroja. Caitlyn Umal and Nigerian player MJ Udeagbala will lead the Baby Lady Tamaraws.

Meanwhile, NUNS and the University of the East face off in the boys' finals at 2 p.m. The Bullpups reached the Finals for the sixth consecutive time after defeating the reigning champion UST Tiger Cubs, 25-22, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, last Saturday.

The Junior Warriors advanced by overcoming the Baby Tamaraws with scores of 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 15-9. Key players for NUNS include Xandrex Ragusta, Kiel Biscocho, Elmerson Lejano, Brylle Crespo, and libero Geoff Deniega. UE will rely on Khian Hiyao, Clarence Gianan, Miguel Catanghal, Emman Marcelino, and Paul Roque.
