Mandaluyong city: National University Nazareth School-B claimed the Shakey's Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL) Rising Stars Cup Division 2 crown by defeating University of Batangas High School, 33-31, 25-17, 25-23, in the final match held at La Salle Green Hills Gym.
According to Philippines News Agency, Keera Talabut led the Lady Bullpups with 14 points, consisting of 13 attacks and an ace, guiding her team to an 8-0 sweep in the tournament. Talabut emphasized the importance of staying calm and composed, noting that removing pressure and outside noise was a priority for their victory. The Lady Bullpups' dominant performance in the first set set the stage for their subsequent success.
Ellaine Tayag and Jheiza Giducos each contributed 12 points to the team's victory. NUNS-B coach Kenan Quitco expressed his gratitude towards coach Karl Dimaculangan for his guidance in creating a program for the team. Quitco praised the players for their dedication and commitment to improving and embracing the system implemented by the coaching staff.
For the Junior Lady Brahmans, Larra Recinto led with 11 points, followed by Bea Butardo with nine points. Andrea Gabrinao and Scarlett Escalante each added six points to their team's efforts.
In the battle for third place, Bacolod Tay Tung defeated Corpus Christi School with scores of 25-15, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20.
