OCD-Caraga Provides Aid Kits to Surigao City Fire Victims

Surigao city: The Office of Civil Defense in Caraga Region provided humanitarian assistance on Wednesday to families affected by a Nov. 25 fire in Surigao City. OCD-13 allocated 176 family hygiene kits, 119 family food packs, and 10 shelter repair kits to support 173 affected households in Barangay Taft, the agency said in a statement on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the relief assistance was released on Wednesday to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Surigao City. The city government will distribute the aid to help families cope and begin recovery, it added.

This follows earlier interventions from the city government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Earlier this week, the Surigao del Norte provincial government under Gov. Robert Lyndon Barbers also released PHP2.61 million in cash assistance to victims for home repairs and basic needs.
