Manila: After a big-time price hike last week, oil firms will reduce pump prices beginning Tuesday. In separate advisories on Monday, PetroGazz, CleanFuel, Seaoil, and Shell said they would slash diesel and gasoline prices by PHP1.80 and PHP1.40 per liter, respectively. Seaoil and Shell will also reduce kerosene prices by PHP2.20 per liter.
According to Philippines News Agency, last week, fuel prices were hiked on a staggered basis to cushion the impact on Filipino consumers. Gasoline, diesel, and kerosene prices rose by PHP3.50, PHP5.20, and PHP4.80 per liter respectively. The Department of Energy (DOE) announced over the weekend that four oil firms would provide fuel discounts to public utility vehicles (PUVs) and transportation network vehicle services (TNVS).
In a social media post, the DOE said Petron would provide 50 centavos up to PHP3 per liter discount for PUVs through its Super Driver Card program. Shell, through its Public Transport Discount Program for GO+ members and non-members, will also provide PHP1 to PHP5 per liter discount for PUVs and PHP2 to PHP3 per liter discount for TNVS.
The DOE said Cleanfuel would likewise give discounts of PHP1 per liter on diesel and PHP2 per liter on gasoline for PUJ drivers and non-operator taxi drivers through its CLEANFUEL PASADA CARD beginning July 1. Caltex will also implement PHP2.50 off on motor gas, PHP1.50 off on diesel, and PHP10 off for lubricant products for PUVs through its StarDriver program.
Seaoil, through its Byahero Discount Promo, will also implement a PHP4 off on gas and PHP2 off on diesel for PUVs and TNVS. The DOE said Phoenix is also offering a 50 centavos to PHP2 off on gas and 20 centavos to PHP1.50 off on diesel outright discount for PUVs and TNVS.
PetroGazz will also provide a 50 centavos to PHP3 per liter discount on diesel, and PHP1 to PHP4 per liter off on gas with a minimum of two liters purchase. The discount will vary depending on location and customers will need to present their loyalty card or PG Sticker to avail of the discount.
"Kami sa DOE ay nagpapasalamat sa mga kumpanya ng langis sa malaking tulong sa ating mga motorista sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mga diskwento. Patuloy ang aming pakikipag-ugnayan sa kanila upang mas dumami pa ang mga participating gas stations (We at the DOE are grateful to the oil companies for helping our motorists through their discounts. We will continue to coordinate with them to increase the number of participating gas stations)," DOE officer in charge Sharon Garin said in a statement Monday.
