Manila: Ticket sales during the annual Time to Fly virtual travel fair of Singapore Airlines account for a big chunk of the company's revenues, and an airline official attributed this to the convenience of online transactions.
According to Philippines News Agency, Aiza Garcia, SIA marketing and press relations head, stated that while people still attend physical travel fair events, there is a notable increase in online sales, particularly in the post-pandemic era.
"People have become more comfortable with digital and cashless transactions. So transitioning into virtual travel fair is a very good move for us, it's a good decision. Because it provides our customers convenience and nationwide access," she mentioned to journalists following the launch of the virtual travel fair, scheduled from October 10-25, 2025, in collaboration with Mastercard.
Garcia did not provide specific figures regarding the proportion of online bookings in their total revenues but emphasized the ongoing efforts to encourage the public, especially their regular customers, to engage in online transactions.
"When you book with singaporeair.com or singaporeair mobile app you can easily compare prices and the destinations and the travel dates that you have, and you'll have instant confirmation of your booking," she explained.
The partnership with Mastercard offers SIA ticket buyers the opportunity to save on fares and receive vouchers for shops and accommodations in Singapore, she added.
