Only 5 active Covid-19 cases remain in Surigao City

Surigao City only has five remaining active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections as of Monday, its City Health Office (CHO) reported.

“The remaining five active Covid-19 cases were reported in Barangays Canlanipa, Ipil, Luna, Punta Bilar, and Washington,” the CHO said in a statement Tuesday.

Of the five cases, three were recorded as new infections on Monday, bringing the cumulative total number of cases in the city to 2,740.

The CHO said a single recovery was also recorded Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,547.

Deaths related to Covid-19 stand at 188 as of the same day, the report indicated.

Meanwhile, the Surigao CHO also reported that some 6,826 individuals were also cleared from quarantine facilities as of July 11.

Of the total number of cleared individuals, 1,871 were recorded in Luna District, 2,095 in Washington District, 1,069 in San Juan District, and 1,791 in Taft District.

“The Covid-19 remains a threat to our health. We call on our residents to follow health protocols and have themselves vaccinated,” the CHO said.
