Lanao del sur: The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) announced that the government has transferred approximately PHP30 million worth of "PAMANA" infrastructure development projects to conflict-affected areas in Barangay Nusa, Balindong, Lanao del Sur.
According to Philippines News Agency, OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that these projects aim to transform these areas into "hubs of economic resilience." The "PAMANA" program, or "Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan," is the agency's main development initiative for regions affected by conflict.
Galvez led the handover of the development projects, which encompass a fish landing port valued at PHP15 million and the groundbreaking ceremony for a water system project, also valued at PHP15 million. These events took place on January 16. These infrastructure endeavors, amounting to PHP30 million, exemplify the government's commitment to delivering the benefits of peace and development to communities within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Galvez highlighted that the establishment of the fish landing port in Barangay Nusa symbolizes a community progressing forward. For years, fisherfolk have encountered challenging waves and uncertain incomes, but the new facility will provide access to broader markets.
He further emphasized that the water system signifies life and dignity, ensuring that no family will have to travel long distances to obtain clean water.
