Manila: The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) on Saturday urged Filipino Muslims to offer a collective prayer for 'just and lasting peace' in the country as the Holy Month of Ramadan begins on March 2.

According to Philippines News Agency, Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said Ramadan serves as a 'powerful reminder' of the values of compassion, solidarity, and the pursuit of peace that Filipinos share. 'As this blessed month begins, our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world observe this solemn period to strengthen their connections with Allah and renew their commitment to sacrifice, commitment, and unity,' he stated.

Galvez emphasized the importance of reflection during this period, encouraging the Muslim community to consider the wisdom and guidance of the Islamic faith. He expressed hope that this would also be a time for collective prayers for peace in the country. Additionally, Galvez wished the Muslim community health, happiness, and prosperity during this sacred month.

Ramadan in the Philippines is set to officially start on Sunday after the crescent moon was not sighted on Friday, as announced by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
