Iloilo: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Western Visayas (LTO-6) is poised to expand its services and enhance road safety initiatives with the opening of additional four district offices in Iloilo and Negros Occidental.
According to Philippines News Agency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently signed laws for the establishment of district offices in Pototan and San Dionisio in Iloilo, as well as in Ilog in Negros Occidental. In San Miguel, Iloilo, the current extension office will be converted into a district office. LTO-6 Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan II stated that this development is a significant step forward in the agency's mission to provide essential services closer to the people and champion road safety across Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, Geduspan mentioned that the LTO-6 is seeking the revocation of the driver's license of Indian national Jagpreet Singh. Singh was involved in an incident where a red Toyota Innova plowed into a Good Friday procession, resulting in the deaths of three devotees and injuries to 17 others. Geduspan cited that Singh tested positive in an alcohol test, indicating a clear case of reckless driving.
Singh, aged 37, was released from the custody of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 5 after posting a bail of PHP60,000, as reported by Traffic Management Unit chief Lt. Col. Ramel Sarona. Singh faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injury, and damage to property. These charges were filed by the police based on the affidavits of 16 complainants at the City Prosecutor's Office.
