Over 100,000 Chickens Perish in Devastating Poultry Farm Fire in Poland

Manila: A massive fire at a poultry farm in southwestern Poland resulted in the deaths of over 100,000 chickens, as confirmed by local authorities. The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. local time on Thursday in a facility located in the village of Falkowice, which housed thousands of hens.

According to Philippines News Agency, emergency services reported that the blaze erupted in a building containing a large number of hens. Police disclosed that approximately 130,000 hens were housed in the facility. However, local media, citing a fire department spokesperson, suggested that the number could be as high as 150,000, and some estimates even indicated the possibility of up to 400,000 hens being affected.

Fortunately, no human casualties have been reported as a result of the fire. A total of 45 fire units from three different counties collaborated in extinguishing the blaze. Authorities have stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Poultry farming holds significant importance in Poland's agricultural sector. Recent data from the European Union highlights Poland as the second-largest exporter of eggs within the bloc.
