Over 15,000 Agusan del Norte Farmers and Fisherfolk to Receive PAFF Cash Aid

Manila: Agusan del Norte More than 15,000 farmers and fisherfolk from Agusan del Norte are set to receive cash relief assistance through the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF).

According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial government, alongside the congressional office of Lone District Representative Dale Corvera and the Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13), has already conducted a series of coordination meetings. These meetings aim to ensure the efficient and orderly distribution of cash assistance throughout the province.

"The distribution process has been finalized. We are thankful for the support from DA-13 and the provincial government in preparing for this cash assistance," stated Orencio Corvera, the chief of staff of the congressional office in the province, during an interview on Tuesday. He noted that they are currently awaiting the release of the funding and will commence the distribution activities within the month.

Each beneficiary will receive PHP2,325 in cash assistance through PAFF, an initiative by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The program is designed to provide timely and targeted interventions to vulnerable sectors affected by rising fuel prices due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

"The coordination meeting last April 27 has finalized the process, and other important necessities for the swift and effective distribution of the cash aid," Corvera added. Leaders of the farmers' and fisherfolk associations across the province have already been consulted and briefed on the distribution activities.

Beneficiaries of the financial aid are those registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture.
