Urdaneta: Over 5,000 job vacancies were offered during the one-day job fair held at the SM City Urdaneta Central. Pangasinan Public Employment Services Office head Richelle Raguindin, in an interview, stated that they are still collecting data on the number of applicants hired during the event.
According to Philippines News Agency, approximately 31 local employers and two overseas employers participated in the job fair. Raguindin explained that job fairs are organized to bring all potential employers together in one venue, allowing job seekers to save time, effort, and money by not having to visit each company individually.
Raguindin noted that the primary aim of such job fairs is to reduce the unemployment rate in the province. As per the provincial government data, the employment rate in Pangasinan was 95.2 percent as of April 2025. This figure shows a decrease from 96.5 percent in April 2024. The unemployment rate increased to 4.8 percent from 3.5 percent in the same period last year, which Raguindin attributed to the influx of new graduates from the last school year.
