Over 900 Army Troopers Deployed for Palarong Pambansa 2026 in Agusan Sur

Prosperidad: Over 900 army troopers from the 401st Infantry Brigade have been deployed to ensure the security of Palarong Pambansa 2026, scheduled to take place from May 24 to 31 in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The deployment aims to provide a secure environment for the estimated 20,000 athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators expected to attend the event.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 401st Infantry Brigade announced on Tuesday that 916 troopers were officially deployed on Monday. These troops have been stationed in strategic locations across various competition venues and billeting quarters throughout the province. They are part of a larger, 2,000-strong multi-agency task force that includes the Army, the Philippine National Police, and support groups from local government units.

Col. Glenn Joy U. Aynera, commander of the 401st Infantry Brigade, emphasized the brigade's commitment to the safety and well-being of all participants. "The 401st Infantry Brigade is honored to stand as the shield of Palarong Pambansa 2026. With the deployment of 916 of our finest soldiers, we reiterate our commitment to the safety and well-being of every participant visiting Agusan del Sur," Aynera stated.

In addition to the army presence, the Police Regional Office in Caraga Region (PRO-13) is contributing 700 personnel to the security efforts. Maj. Jennifer Ometer, head of PRO-13's information office, explained that out of the 700 personnel, 300 are being drawn from different provinces, while the remaining 400 consist of recent graduates from basic police course training. The 300 personnel from the provinces include 120 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, 50 each from Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur, and 30 from Butuan City.
