Ozamiz City Covers P22-M in Residents’ Q1 Hospital Bills

Manila: The Ozamiz City government in Misamis Occidental has covered over PHP22 million in hospital expenses of its constituents for the first quarter of the year. The city's zero-billing program also extends to residents of other towns within the province.

According to Philippine News Agency, in the first quarter of 2025 alone, this vital program shouldered the hospital bills of 884 patients, as reported by the city government on Tuesday. Beyond hospital costs, the local government also provided burial assistance to the bereaved families of 170 deceased, amounting to a total of PHP2.4 million during the same period.

The zero-billing program's reach is expanding across the entire province, ensuring broader access to essential healthcare services. The province's comprehensive healthcare program operates in close collaboration with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., aligning with the provisions of the Universal Healthcare law.
