Drug enforcement teams in this provincial capital and neighboring Silay City arrested five suspects and recovered PHP1.013 million worth of suspected shabu during a series of sting operations in the past three days, police reports on Wednesday showed.
On Tuesday night, operatives arrested suspect Helmar Suspeñe Bito-on in Matagoy Interio of Barangay Rizal in Silay City.
Bito-on, 36, sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP11,000 during the operation at past 6 p.m.
He also yielded 14 sachets of the same prohibited substance, weighing 75 grams, with an estimated value of PHP510,000.
The operation was conducted by the joint team of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas (PDEG SOU-6) and Silay City Police Station where the suspect is now under custody.
In Bacolod, operatives of PDEG SOU-6 also arrested Rowena Salmingo, 54, in Purok Star Apple, Barangay 27 earlier on the same day.
At 11:15 a.m., a poseur buyer bought PHP10,500 worth of shabu from the suspect.
Also found in her possession were 11 sachets of shabu, weighing about 60 grams, with a standard drug price of PHP408,000.
Personnel of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 8, which now has custody of the suspect, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Negros Occidental assisted in the operation.
On April 10, two suspects were arrested by personnel of Police Station 8 in Purok Jupiter, Barangay Singcang-Airport.
They were identified as Jessie Banares, 50, of Purok Kaingin, Barangay Singcang-Airport, and Ramonsito De la Cruz, 41, of Purok San Pedro, Barangay Sum-ag.
At 1:40 p.m., the suspects sold PHP4,000 worth of shabu to a poseur buyer and yielded four sachets containing 10 grams of the same prohibited substance worth PHP68,000 as well as a caliber .38 revolver loaded with one live ammunition.
On the same day at 12:05 a.m., Edmark Teodosio, 29, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 5 and City Drug Enforcement Unit in Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay 19.
An undercover policeman bought PHP200 worth of shabu from the suspect, who also yielded four grams of the same prohibited substance valued at PHP27,000.
