P240-K marijuana seized, 28 fall in Bulacan anti-crime ops

An estimated PHP240,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves were seized while 28 individuals were arrested in a series of operations by Bulacan police on Wednesday and Thursday.

In his report, Col. Rommel J. Ochave, acting Bulacan police provincial director, said two large bricks of dried marijuana leaves were seized by Malolos police from Bryan Torres, of Barangay Caniogan on Wednesday.

“Also confiscated from the suspect’s possession were three pieces of suspected shabu including a buy-bust item, backpack, medical receipt, and buy-bust money,” Ochave said in an interview.

Ochave said separate anti-drug busts by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Bocaue and Sta. Maria resulted in the arrest of three drug peddlers who yielded 14 sachets of shabu, a transparent case, a coin purse, and buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, 13 suspects were arrested in a joint anti-illegal gambling operation by the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Pulilan police.

They were caught operating and betting in a “drop ball” and “drop cards” game in a “Peryahan”.

Seized from the suspects were a set of drop ball boards, rubber balls, plastic trays, a set of drop cards, and bet money in different denominations.

Meanwhile, Carlo Bernardo of Balasing, Sta. Maria was arrested by authorities for violation of Republic Act 10883, the New Anti-Carnapping Act.

Recovered from his possession was the missing motorcycle that was already dismantled.

Authorities conducted manhunt operations that resulted in the arrest of 10 wanted felons in Baliwag, Hagonoy, Plaridel, Meycauayan, San Miguel, San Rafael, Sta. Maria, and the City of San Jose del Monte.

They are convicted of various crimes including frustrated murder, frustrated homicide, and grave threats, among others.

All the suspects are now under police custody.
