P64.2-M Illegal Drugs Seized in Central Visayas Anti-Drug Ops

Manila: The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) confiscated PHP64.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 266 individuals in anti-drug operations from March 2 to 8.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-7 Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan reported that the police seized a total of 9,449.19 grams of shabu and 16 grams of dried marijuana during this period. The operations also targeted illegal gambling, illegal firearms, and wanted persons, resulting in 128 arrests related to illegal gambling.

Amid the ongoing election gun ban, the Central Visayas police also seized 202 firearms and arrested 31 individuals in connection to these violations. Additionally, dedicated tracker teams from the PRO-7 apprehended 46 high-priority wanted persons and 172 others on various wanted lists.

Brig. Gen. Maranan credited the success of these operations to the hard work and dedication of law enforcers, collaboration with partner agencies, and strong support from the community in the region. "We have a clear strategy focused on preventing crime and engaging with the community. Our aim is to respond quickly and effectively to ensure that the Central Visayas community remains safe and secure," he stated.
