Dinagat islands: The Dinagat Islands provincial government officially handed over eight completed infrastructure projects worth PHP69 million in the area on Wednesday afternoon, which included road concreting, building construction, and public facility rehabilitation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the finished projects, with a total amount of PHP69,002,458, include road concreting in Don Ruben, San Jose, and from Purok 4 to Purok 3 to Sta. Cruz Beach, as well as in Mahangin, Wilson. Other projects involve the development of a 402-hectare Provincial Government Center for the concreting of an Apartment Type Cemetery, rehabilitation and restoration of the PDI FM Station, and the construction of a Materials Recovery Facility Building. Additionally, there was the construction of a Multi-purpose Building Phase 2 at the Provincial Center and a Covered Court Phase 3 at the Capitol Grounds.

Dinagat Islands Governor Nilo Demerey Jr., in a statement on Thursday, said the projects were funded through the province's 20 percent development fund. He emphasized that these projects are investments in the future of Dinagat Islands, noting that better roads mean easier access for farmers and fisherfolk, while new buildings provide spaces for community gatherings, education, and livelihood programs.

Governor Demerey highlighted the significance of these facilities in improving daily lives, strengthening local governance, boosting economic activity, and fostering unity in the communities. Furthermore, seven municipal police stations and the provincial police office each received one generator set, totaling PHP928,000, to maintain continuous operations during power outages, ensuring the police can continue their essential roles during crisis operations.
