PAGCOR Allocates PHP60 Million for Scholarships Benefiting 2,000 Bulacan Students

Bulacan: The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced its commitment to provide PHP60 million to support a scholarship program for 2,000 students from low-income families in Bulacan.

According to Philippines News Agency, PAGCOR has already released PHP10 million to the Bulacan provincial government. This funding aims to support the Ayudang Hatid ay Tagumpay (AHT) Scholarship Program, which is designed to enhance access to higher education and technical-vocational training for deserving students in the region.

The allocation of PHP60 million will be divided into two segments: PHP40 million will fund scholarships for 1,000 incoming college freshmen enrolled in four-year degree programs, and PHP20 million will aid 1,000 students pursuing technical-vocational education.

"As we turn over the first tranche of funds today, we are not merely providing assistance to the education sector. We are also investing in the capabilities, dreams, and potential of our youth, our partners in building a more prosperous Bulacan and a stronger Philippines," stated PAGCOR Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco.

Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the assistance would enable more students to pursue their studies despite financial challenges. "We thank PAGCOR for its continued support in the education of the Bulakenyo youth. This scholarship program will help expand access to quality education and create opportunities for deserving students across the province," Fernando said.

The scholarship initiative is a component of the Bawat Buhay Mahalaga Caravan, a program aimed at bringing government services and assistance closer to local communities, including efforts to enhance educational access. In addition to the scholarship program, PAGCOR plans to fund the construction of 10 three-story school buildings in Bulacan and establish the Bulacan Sports Academy for aspiring young athletes.
