Manila: The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) has distributed PHP65.60 million in food and non-food assistance to areas in Luzon and Metro Manila impacted by tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay, as well as the enhanced southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat'.

According to Philippines News Agency, PAGCOR announced the distribution of 47,192 relief packages, which include 23,596 food packs valued at PHP28.91 million and an equal number of non-food packs worth PHP36.69 million. These efforts are part of PAGCOR's ongoing disaster relief initiatives, which began as early as August 8, as noted by PAGCOR Chairperson and CEO Alejandro Tengco.

The relief items have either been delivered or are en route to various affected regions, including Bulacan, La Union, Baguio City, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, and Rizal provinces. Additional allocations have been made for parts of Pangasinan, Quezon, Batangas, Camarines Norte, Abra, Laguna, and Pampanga. In Metro Manila, assistance has also been directed to the cities of Para±aque and Marikina.

Alejandro Tengco emphasized the organization's commitment to providing essential aid, stating, "Calamities cause immediate burden on families, particularly when basic needs become difficult to secure. PAGCOR is committed to providing timely assistance to communities that need them most." He further assured that PAGCOR will collaborate with government partners to continue delivering support to affected areas.

"We will continue to stand with our kababayans in times of need. Through our continuing disaster response efforts, PAGCOR will do its part to help affected communities recover and get back on their feet," Tengco added.
