Manila: The traditional 'pahalik' (kissing) of the image of the Jesus Nazareno will continue at the Quirino Grandstand until Jan. 10. The "pahalik" has been extended until Saturday at 10 a.m. to accommodate more devotees to venerate and touch the iconic Jesus Christ image.

According to Philippines News Agency, the decision to extend the "pahalik" was made in response to the continued influx of devotees. "Our Rector, Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, saw the continued influx of devotees, who wanted to get close to and touch the Jesus Nazareno," a statement from the Quiapo Church sent to reporters read. The statement also noted that being a Friday, the number of devotees is expected to increase, prompting the extension of the event.

During the "pahalik," devotees are allowed to venerate the image, allowing them to kiss and touch it. In past events, this religious activity would conclude hours after the start of Traslacion or the grand procession.
