Palace Calls for Deeper Investigation into Missing ‘Sabungeros’ Case

Manila: Malaca±ang on Wednesday called for a deeper investigation into the reported disappearance of individuals linked to online and illegal cockfighting. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is committed to ensuring that justice is served, particularly for the families affected by these incidents.

According to Philippines News Agency, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed in an interview on Bilyonaryo News Channel that the individuals involved in the missing 'sabungeros' case were also linked to the controversial drug war during the Duterte administration. This connection has prompted calls for a more thorough investigation. Castro emphasized the necessity of a deeper probe, noting that the crimes seem interconnected, although guilt has not yet been established.

Self-proclaimed whistleblower Julie "Totoy" Patidongan has alleged that the missing sabungeros were killed and disposed of in Taal Lake after being accused of cheating during cockfights. Patidongan named gaming tycoon Atong Ang and three others as the masterminds behind the disappearances, a claim that Ang has denied.

The call for further investigation underscores the complexity of the case, with potential links to broader criminal activities. President Marcos Jr. has insisted that the investigation must continue until justice is achieved for the victims and their families.
