Manila: Malaca±ang has declared separate special non-working holidays in two Bicol Region provinces to recognize significant local events. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamations 1308 and 1297 on June 10 and uploaded them to the Official Gazette on June 12.

According to Philippines News Agency, Proclamation 1297 designates June 16 as a special non-working holiday in Pili, Camarines Sur, in celebration of its 71st founding anniversary. Meanwhile, Proclamation 1308 declares June 24 a non-working day in Masbate province for the Bagat-Dagat Festival.

In a social media post, Masbate Governor Richard Kho highlighted that one of the festival's main attractions is the provincial drum and lyre competition, scheduled for June 24 in Cataingan town. The competition's champion will receive PHP300,000, the first runner-up PHP200,000, and the second runner-up PHP100,000, while non-winners will be awarded consolation prizes of PHP50,000.

Additional awards include Best in Street Parade with a prize of PHP20,000, Best in Costume with PHP10,000, and Best in Musicality with PHP10,000. Kho urged the public to attend the event, emphasizing the epic showcase of rhythm, grace, and musical brilliance as schools from across the province vie for top honors in a celebration of culture, pride, and youthful talent.
