Manila: Malaca±ang on Monday condemned an alleged plot to frame Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in a fabricated scandal, calling it 'despicable' and urging the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to uncover everyone behind the supposed scheme. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the allegations, if proven true, point to an unacceptable attempt to destroy a public official through character assassination and fabricated evidence.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized in a Palace briefing that the alleged actions are an affront to the principles of justice and transparency upheld by the Marcos administration. She described the situation as a clear attempt to undermine public trust through deceitful practices.

Reports have surfaced indicating that the NBI thwarted a scheme designed to embroil Recto in a compromising situation intended to tarnish his reputation. Talent manager Lito de Guzman was apprehended during an entrapment operation, and authorities are currently analyzing digital evidence to ascertain the involvement of additional parties.

Castro expressed concern over what she termed as persistent efforts to employ fabricated witnesses against public officials. She dismissed allegations linking the Marcos administration to political unrest, asserting that such claims are baseless.

In response to inquiries about the potential involvement of other figures in the alleged plot, Castro confirmed that the NBI is conducting a comprehensive investigation to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.
