Manila: Malaca±ang has officially dismissed as 'fake news' the alleged issuance of a memorandum circular (MC) that purportedly announced the suspension of work in government offices nationwide on December 26 and December 29 for the holiday season. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, in a communication with Palace reporters, categorically denied authorizing any such suspension.

According to Philippines News Agency, the denial followed the circulation of a supposed MC 47, which falsely bore Recto's signature and spread rapidly on social media platforms. This falsified document claimed that an 'extended break' had been declared to encourage work-life balance and support the emotional and social wellness of public servants.

The fake memo further suggested that the work suspension was intended to 'foster the spirit of togetherness and allow government employees meaningful time to spend with their families and loved ones during the holiday season.' However, it is important to note that December 26 and December 29 do not appear on the list of regular holidays and special non-working days for 2025.
