Palace Grateful for Public Satisfaction on Marcos Administration

Manila: Malaca±ang expressed appreciation for the continuing support of Filipinos to the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. This follows a Social Weather Station (SWS) survey, conducted from Dec. 12 to 18, 2024, which found that 59 percent or majority of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the administration's performance, while 23 percent were dissatisfied, and 17 percent were undecided.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a statement Thursday, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the Palace is 'grateful for the people's support, as reflected in surveys that have consistently placed us in overwhelmingly positive territory.' Bersamin highlighted the administration's successful efforts in responding to calamities, delivering basic education, uplifting the poor, and providing jobs as key areas of positive feedback.

The SWS poll indicated that the administration retained a net satisfaction rating of +36, classified as "good." It received "very good" ratings in five key areas: helping disaster victims (+65), improving children's education quality (+60), assisting the poor (+57), job creation policies (+51), and developing science and technology (+51).

Seven areas were rated "good," including implementing housing programs for the poor (+49), ensuring food security (+46), maintaining an efficient public transportation system (+45), disaster preparedness for typhoons (+44), addressing climate change (+38), telling the truth to the people (+34), and defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+32). The administration also received a "moderate" rating in ensuring no family goes hungry (+26).

Bersamin emphasized that survey results are a 'weathervane for public opinion,' reflecting support for policies but not necessarily their impact. He stated, 'The truest measure of public service is whether we improve our people's lives. This remains the primary standard by which we measure our work.' He also noted the value of these surveys as tools for enhancing service delivery.
