Manila: The Marcos administration has made significant strides in its campaign against illegal drugs, with more than PHP62 billion worth of illicit substances confiscated since President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. took office, Malaca±ang announced on Thursday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that data from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reveals that authorities have executed 110,563 anti-drug operations from July 2022 to May 2025. These operations resulted in the arrest of 149,020 individuals involved in drug activities, including 9,506 identified as high-value targets.
Castro emphasized that the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has intensified its operations against illegal drugs, with notable progress under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program. As of May 2025, 4,027 barangays have achieved a drug-cleared status.
Furthermore, Castro reported that 141,837 drug suspects have faced charges, with 53,938 cases resolved and 47,438 leading to convictions. The administration has also focused on rehabilitation and reintegration, with 9,713 drug offenders completing reformation programs and 2,761 receiving livelihood assistance.
In support of these efforts, the current administration has established 607 Balay Silangan Reformation Centers across the nation, providing opportunities for former drug dependents and offenders to rebuild their lives.
