Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains in good condition and is holding private meetings at Malaca±an Palace in Manila upon the advice of his doctors, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a Palace press briefing, Castro stated that the 68-year-old President has been advised to take things easier for the time being after experiencing discomfort last week. Castro clarified that Marcos' condition is stable and not a cause for concern.

'Dito muna. Private meetings muna. Maayos po ang kanyang kalagayan at ito ho ay isa sa paraan ng kanyang maaaring pag-uutos ng kanyang doctor na maghinay-hinay ng kaunti (For now, he will stay here and hold private meetings. His condition is fine, and this is one way of following his doctor's advice to slow down a bit),' she said.

Castro mentioned that Marcos is limiting public engagements as part of his doctor's instructions. Despite this, she emphasized that Marcos continues to fulfill his duties and remains fully engaged in overseeing government affairs. 'Pero still, kahit sinabihan na siya ng kaniyang mga doctor, patuloy pa rin ang kaniyang pakikipag-meeting dito po sa Palasyo (But even after being advised by his doctors, he continues to hold meetings here at the Palace),' Castro said.

Marcos was brought to St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City on the evening of Jan. 21 after experiencing discomfort and was diagnosed with diverticulitis, an inflammation of small pouches, or diverticula, in the colon. In a video message on Jan. 22, Marcos allayed fears about his health, saying his condition is 'not life-threatening.'

Castro on Monday also dismissed as 'fake news' the claims that Marcos needs to undergo surgery, saying the President has already returned to his regular work.
