Manila: Malaca±ang on Thursday vowed accountability following the circulation of videos showing Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy allegedly recording content while in detention. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro Castro stated that the vlogger had been held at a Bureau of Immigration (BI) facility, and some videos may have been recorded during the initial stages of his detainment.

According to Philippines News Agency, three immigration officials were dismissed and several cellphones were confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. Castro emphasized that if further misconduct is identified, additional investigations will ensue to ensure that those abusing their positions face removal.

Castro also highlighted that the Palace is working closely with the BI to ensure adherence to proper procedures within detention facilities and to address any lapses in protocol. The investigation is expected to continue until all issues are resolved and effective measures are implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Zdorovetskiy had shared photos and videos on Wednesday depicting himself inside the BI's warden facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. Following approximately nine months in detention due to incidents involving harassment of Filipinos, the vlogger has since been deported to Russia. The Bureau of Immigration's deportation order has designated Zdorovetskiy as an "undesirable alien."
