Pangasinan: A total of 54 government facilities and private establishments in Pangasinan are now accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) for the GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment) program. Accredited as of June 12 are 19 facilities in Central Pangasinan, 21 in Eastern Pangasinan, and 14 in Western Pangasinan, PhilHealth 1 (Ilocos Region) public affairs unit head Joseph Manuel said on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, PhilHealth YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) registered members and their dependents can avail of free generic medicines worth up to PHP20,000 each in these GAMOT facilities, provided the medicines are indicated in their prescription issued by accredited YAKAP health facilities doctors. The program covers 75 types of outpatient medicines, including those for chronic conditions and maintenance.
The program aims to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for common illnesses like diabetes and hypertension. To avail of the free medicines, members should first register at an accredited YAKAP health facility. Consultation with a YAKAP-accredited doctor from the facility is necessary to obtain a prescription. The GAMOT program cannot be accessed if the prescription is not from a YAKAP facility.
To date, there are 95 accredited GAMOT providers in the Ilocos Region.
