Agno: The local chief executive of Agno, Pangasinan, expressed gratitude and commendation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for various national government projects in their town.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor John Celeste announced that the town is set to receive PHP10 million from the national government through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). He stated that PHP5 million of the total amount will be allocated to purchase rice for distribution to vulnerable sectors in the town, ensuring food security amid expected weather disturbances. Families in need will receive 10 kg of rice every two months, six times a year, through the LGSF.

Celeste further explained that the remaining PHP5 million will be used to construct a covered area as an extension of their public market. This development aims to provide farmers and ambulant vendors a comfortable place to sell their products without exposure to the sun. The process for the funds is currently underway through the Sangguniang Bayan and Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The LGSF and the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) are essential components of the government's strategy to bolster support for local government units and communities. While the LGSF provides financial assistance for priority development programs of LGUs, the SCPF supports community initiatives like educational aid.

Additionally, a project to replace a footbridge destroyed by Typhoon Emong last year is among the national government's initiatives for Agno. The temporary steel bridge, measuring 88-linear-meters long and 1.4-meters wide, was funded with PHP10 million from the Department of Public Works and Highways' quick response fund. This bridge connects Barangay San Juan with neighboring villages, enhancing accessibility for residents.
