MANILA A police commander in Pasig City has been relieved from his post after the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) head found the area of his precinct to be filthy.
NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar identified the relieved police officer as Capt. Eleno Ilustrisimo, commander of the Police Community Precinct (PCP) 1 in Pasig City, where its surroundings were found full of cigarette butts, empty water bottles and candy wrappers during a second random inspection on Wednesday.
I inspected on May 24 and I saw the surroundings were dirty. I inspected yesterday (Wednesday), it remains like that. It's already strike two for him. They should have cleaned before we returned yesterday but it is still the same when we went there, Eleazar told Philippine News Agency in a phone interview.
He said the Pasig City police chief will be the one to designate Illustrisimo's replacement.
Eleazar said this is a stern warning to all PCP commanders as well as city chiefs of police to clean up their surroundings.
Cleanliness not only inside but (also) outside (is important). There are a lot of cigarette butts, empty water bottles and candy wrappers during my inspection in these PCPs. I told them even if they have old equipment, as long as these are in order, the people will still find it presentable, especially complainants. The comfort rooms should not have any foul smell. It is important to have a good and clean working environment, he said.
Cleanliness and sanitation in the police stations should be a standard. Police commanders should always make sure that the surroundings are clean, the Metro Manila top cop noted.
Clean office. Clean mindset. Clean manner of working for the people. The people's trust will be restored if they see clean surroundings of police stations. What I mean here is exaggerated cleanliness, Eleazar said. (PNA)
