Pasilang’s Last-Second Jumper Secures FEU Victory Over Adamson in UAAP Women’s Basketball

Quezon City:Far Eastern University (FEU) emerged victorious against Adamson University with a narrow 50-48 win, thanks to a decisive jumper by Victoria Pasilang during the UAAP Season 89 women's basketball game held at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Pasilang was instrumental in FEU's win, contributing 18 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, helping the Lady Tamaraws finish the first-round elimination tied with the Lady Falcons at a 4-3 record.

Adamson made a significant comeback in the second half, closing the gap to 43-35 with Angeline Alaba's triple at the end of the third quarter and leveling the score at 48-all as the game approached the final minute. Pasilang, who scored 14 points in the first half, secured the victory for FEU with her critical basket, putting them ahead by two points with just 7.8 seconds left on the clock. Adamson attempted to send the game into overtime, but Elaine Etang's layup was unsuccessful.

Pasilang credited her training for the successful play, highlighting the importance of practice as emphasized by Coach Raiza Palmera-Dy. Elaine Patio also played a key role, adding 15 points and securing six rebounds for FEU. She contributed a free throw that marked FEU's largest lead of the game, 34-19, at halftime.

Coach Raiza Palmera-Dy stated that the team's success was a collective effort throughout the game. She noted that although they had a 15-point lead at halftime, the team needed to maintain a focused mindset to avoid relaxing in the second half.

On the Adamson side, Cheska Apag and Elaine Etang both scored 11 points, while Angeline Alaba and Trix Burgos each added seven points. Looking ahead, FEU is set to face National University, and Adamson will play against Ateneo de Manila University at the Araneta Coliseum on October 31.
