Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday called on Filipinos to draw inspiration from the late senator Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino Jr.'s courage and convictions by strengthening national unity and taking an active role in the country's democratic journey.

According to Philippines News Agency, in his Ninoy Aquino Day message, Marcos said the occasion serves as an opportunity to remember the past and face present challenges with resolve to protect the country's independence and strengthen institutions. He emphasized that acknowledging the past is crucial to safeguarding freedom and deepening national unity.

Marcos pointed out that although the challenges facing Philippine democracy have evolved, the responsibility of every Filipino to support and enhance it remains. "Disinformation, division, distrust, and civic indifference underscore the importance of active engagement in our nation's affairs," Marcos stated.
