Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has acknowledged that public service is a 'thankless job' but worthwhile when it results in meaningful improvements in people's lives. In a teaser for the sixth episode of his podcast, Marcos reflected on the real purpose of serving the Filipino people, saying the true reward in politics is changing lives for good.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized that entering politics should be driven by the desire to serve. He advised aspiring politicians to pursue a political career for the right reasons, highlighting the fulfillment that comes from seeing national progress as an indication of effective leadership.

Marcos shared that there is no better feeling than helping someone beyond oneself, family, community, or country. He described it as a 'privilege' when people's lives improve due to public service, noting the impact of making a positive change in a person's life.

In the previous episode of his podcast released in October, Marcos discussed how his father, the late former president Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., influenced his leadership style. He also mentioned that the true essence of being president is only fully understood once one assumes the role.

Before becoming the country's president, Marcos held various local and legislative roles. His political career began as governor of Ilocos Norte from 1983 to 1986, followed by his election as representative of Ilocos Norte's second district in 1992. He returned as Ilocos governor from 1998 to 2007, served in the House of Representatives starting in 2007, and joined the Senate in 2010.
