Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday expressed elation over the results of OCTA Research's latest Tugon ng Masa survey, which showed the Filipinos' continued trust and support for him. In a media interview on the sidelines of the graduation rites of the Philippine National Police Academy 'Sinaglawin' Class of 2025, Marcos said it is good to know that Filipinos appreciate his administration's efforts to bring progress to the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos stated that the survey results validate the actions and initiatives his administration has been implementing for the past two and a half, almost three years. He emphasized that the results continue to inspire him as they indicate that the administration is making progress.
Marcos remarked that the survey findings are indications that Filipinos are already experiencing real changes under his leadership. He acknowledged that it is sometimes challenging to discern whether people feel the impact of governmental actions, but it is reassuring to see that the public recognizes efforts to improve their lives.
The OCTA survey, conducted from April 2 to 5, revealed that 60 percent of Filipinos trust Marcos, while 59 percent are satisfied with his performance. Though there was a slight decline in trust and approval scores-by five and four percentage points respectively since November 2024-the decrease is not considered substantial according to the OCTA report.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro highlighted that despite political controversies and criticisms, Filipinos remained focused on the administration's larger accomplishments. Castro noted that the public's trust in Marcos persisted amidst attempts to cast doubt on his administration.
Castro further stated that regardless of positive or negative feedback, the President remains committed to working towards his objectives for all Filipinos. She affirmed that the President will not be distracted by ratings, although they will be taken into account for the country's benefit.
Analysts observed that despite the ongoing political noise and challenges faced by the administration, most Filipinos continue to view President Marcos as a "steady and reliable leader."
