In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Briefer Claire Castro stated that the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles are actively monitoring the situation.
According to Philippines News Agency, the recent immigration raids have resulted in the arrest of several individuals, including a Filipino national named Rolando Enriquez. Reports indicate that Enriquez was detained by ICE agents as part of their operations. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed on Sunday that Enriquez, aged 55, is classified as an "illegal alien from the Philippines." His criminal record includes convictions for burglary in Ontario, Canada, and serious offenses in Pomona, California, resulting in lengthy prison sentences.
The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles issued an advisory on Monday, urging Filipinos to remain cautious and vigilant amid ongoing protests in downtown Los Angeles. They have been advised to avoid large gatherings that could potentially escalate into disturbances.
