Malolos: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Associate Justice Ma. Belen Ringpis-Liban as the new Presiding Justice of the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA). Ringpis-Liban will assume the new role starting Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, the appointment underscores the President's commitment to upholding the rule of law and strengthening judicial institutions through principled and capable leadership. Justice Ringpis-Liban is expected to lead the Court with independence, professionalism, and fidelity to the Constitution, ensuring the fair and timely resolution of tax cases essential to public trust and economic stability.

Ringpis-Liban has had a legal and judicial career spanning over three decades. Prior to her CTA appointment, she served 17 years as a Regional Trial Court Judge in Malolos and Quezon City. She also worked in both public and private legal practice, including as a solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General, confidential attorney at the Court of Appeals, legal assistant at the Philippine National Construction Corporation, and associate at a private law firm.

She earned her Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Santo Tomas. Ringpis-Liban has been a member of the CTA since her appointment as Associate Justice in 2013, where she has been involved in adjudicating numerous tax cases.

She has assumed leadership roles within the judiciary, including participation in the Philippine Judges Association and the Philippine Women Judges Association. Her commitment to the legal profession and judicial reform is further reflected in her participation in numerous national and international conferences and seminars, including those convened by the International Association of Women Judges, the International Fiscal Association, and the International Bar Association.
