Cebu city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has pledged to continue relief efforts in Cebu and instructed the relocation of residents from 'no-build' zones after Typhoon Tino caused massive flash flood devastation in the province. In a statement following a situation briefing, Marcos reassured typhoon victims of ongoing government support until full recovery is achieved.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos announced that displaced residents with totally and partially damaged homes would receive PHP10,000 and PHP5,000, respectively. He emphasized the government's commitment to help affected individuals recover and rebuild their lives. "We will help them to recover, put them back on their feet and do what we can to make up for the loss that they have suffered," he stated during a briefing at the provincial capitol in Cebu City.

Marcos affirmed that national government support would persist as long as needed. Local government units are tasked with identifying potential sites for new housing. Temporary shelters are currently being provided for those unable to return to their homes. Marcos expressed plans to assist residents in rebuilding or repairing their damaged homes.

Engineering teams from the Department of Public Works and Highways are evaluating road conditions to determine necessary repairs or closures. At least three roads require careful inspection due to flooding damage. Marcos also warned local officials of an approaching typhoon, urging caution despite forecasts indicating it may not impact the Visayas region.

Marcos expressed condolences after the death toll from Typhoon Tino rose to 188, with 139 fatalities in Cebu. "But we are very, very sorry. Of course, we are all saddened because our casualty figures are very high," he said, acknowledging the devastating impact of the flash floods.
