Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno to discuss potential collaboration between the national and local governments in executing crucial infrastructure and social welfare projects in the capital city. The meeting took place at Malaca±an Palace, where they explored the implementation of legacy projects in Metro Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, the discussion included plans for housing, bridges, transportation, and urban redevelopment initiatives. President Marcos emphasized that projects such as the North and South Harbor Bridge, retrofitting of the Lambingan Bridge, and the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) would be prioritized. He also supported the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) pipe-laying project in Pandacan to enhance the water supply infrastructure.
The Presidential Communications Office highlighted that the cooperation of the Manila city government is crucial for initiatives like the Greater Metro Manila Waterways Cleaning and Clearing Operations and the Bayanihan sa Estero Program. Additionally, Marcos and Moreno discussed improving project monitoring and assisting families living on the streets through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and other Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) programs.
The meeting also covered public information campaigns for major national government programs, including the National Immunization Program and National ID registration. Furthermore, Marcos and Moreno recently participated in the launch of the DSWD's Reducing Food Insecurity and Undernutrition with Electronic Vouchers (REFUEL) Project at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
