Lucena City: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Friday that the senatorial candidates under the administration-backed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition can be trusted to sustain the government's achievements and continue programs aimed at improving the lives of Filipinos. Speaking before thousands of supporters at a campaign rally at Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City, Marcos said the Alyansa Senate slate has the experience and ability to build on the progress made in the almost three years of his presidency.
According to Philippines News Agency, among the accomplishments Marcos cited was the steady drop in unemployment, referring to the full-year 2024 average of 3.8 percent, the lowest recorded since 2005 according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Marcos expressed satisfaction in reporting this achievement to the public.
He highlighted infrastructure developments such as the Light Rail Transit-1 Cavite Extension Project, along with ongoing construction of roads, bridges, ports, flood control systems, and irrigation dams nationwide. These efforts aim to resolve long-standing issues in transportation, agriculture, and employment.
As he looks ahead to the final three years of his term, Marcos emphasized that electing the right senators is crucial to sustaining momentum beyond his presidency. He expressed a commitment to continue expanding projects that deliver real services to the people.
Marcos stated that the public should feel the effect of good governance not just in statistics or economic data but in tangible improvements in their daily lives. He views these achievements as victories for the people and the Philippines.
He concluded by stressing the importance of continuing these efforts, asserting that the Alyansa candidates will carry forward the successes and initiatives to improve the lives of Filipinos and the nation. The senatorial candidates under the Alyansa coalition include former and incumbent politicians from various political backgrounds, supported by five political parties.
